On April 1, Ms. Bertuca asked her students to imagine themselves as an inanimate object here on campus and bring that inanimate object to life.

The Library received a very appreciative thank you note from Anonymous.

Please read below.  Designed as an April Fool’s prank or not, the Library was happy to be told how it helps students find good books and finish their homework.

Save to the “Z” drive on Harbor’s computers

To Save Documents Under the Z Drive:

1.   Log in under your personal log-in and password.

2.   After document is written, select “File” menu

3.  Select “Save” option.

4. Interactive “Save As” screen appears

5. Activate the drop-down menu.

6. “Desktop” is the main heading.

7.  Find “Homes on Samba” and select this option. For some students, this option will actually include your name.

Save Web Pages Efficiently and Effortlessly with Instapaper

Try Instapaper, a web site designed to gather all of your web based readings together.

This web site is a bookmarking website that can be accessed from any Internet connected computer or phone. Find something on the web, but no time to read it? Instapaper holds it for you to read later. Creating folders for organizing subjects is easy on Instapaper and increases its functionality.

Students: create folders for each homework assignment, gathering all of your web based research into one area. Accounts must have unique names but are easy to create. No password is required.

Teachers: create different folders for each class’ readings. Easy way to gather primary documents or essays and share them with your students. Or, you can create a different account for each class and share your log-in information.  Accounts can be as simple as “Ms. Jones’ Freshmen English Class” with no password!

How To Use: Harbor High Email and Google Accounts

Go to mail.harborhigh.org in your web browser

You username will be the first letter of your first name and then your last name (like your computer username) For example, John Smith’s username would be jsmith

Your password is 000 then your student ID number. For example, John Smith’s student ID number is 12345, so his password would be 00012345

Your new email address is yourusername@harborhigh.org. For example, John Smith’s email address would be jsmith@harborhigh.org.

If you can’t log-in, ask Mrs. Litvak for help.
